W. Kenneth Ward, MD : Chairman of the Board & Secretary

Ken is a co-founder and a scientist who specializes in biosensors. He is the Board Chairman and co-founder of the Company. He has been deeply involved in development of percutaneous glucose sensors (iSense, Bayer, Legacy Health), a lactic acid sensor, and an oxygen sensor. Dr. Ward has had research grants from JDRF, NIH, CDC and DoD and was an early developer of a bi-hormonal artificial pancreas. He has written several articles on the biochemistry of glucagon. Dr. Ward left academia and led the Company to its first goal: the development of a subcutaneous insulin pump cannula that incorporates a continuous glucose monitor. Dr. Ward has published 75 original articles, 7 book chapters, and 11 review articles, mostly on the topics of diabetes technology and biosensing. He has been awarded 26 patents and has 3 patents pending.
